Greetings and welcome to our very first video blog post.
I was doing some routine copyright infringement checking on our website this weekend and found 9 different companies who were using content stolen from my website. The level of theft ranged from a few copied paragraphs of text, all the way to a complete rip-off of my entire website. Needless to say, it’s incredibly aggravating (to say the least!) to find another company stealing what I paid dearly (in time and money) to create.
Even worse, some of the worst offenders are local Portland businesses!?! These guys must be brain-dead to think they can do this without being discovered. Anyway, I firmly believe that business owners need to vigorously protect their intellectual property, and regularly check to make sure they aren’t having their website content stolen.
This is the first of a multi-part video tutorial that shows you how easy it is to detect such theft, and what to do about it. I’m interested to hear if anyone finds their own copyright scoundrels as a result of my tutorial. Please let me know how it goes, and let me know if you have any questions about my process. Thanks for watching!
